FACTS ABOUT CANCER CHEMOTHERAPY AND RADIATION

Hi you guys. I have an article on cancer chemotherapy and radiation that I hope would help you a lot.

Cancer is usually managed using chemotherapy and radiation. Chemotherapy is used as a palliative measure and to prolong life. It may involve the use of cytotoxic drugs, steroid hormones and immunotherapy. However chemotherapy and radiation have some certain aspects that cause discomfort to patients undergoing the treatment. They include:

Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and cause organ damage like the liver, kidneys, heart, lungs.

Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy does not result in more tumor destruction.

When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation, the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

With all these complication or undesirable effect that chemotherapy and radiation has, they are still the major methods of dealing with cancer. They give cancer patients the hope of living a better and healthier life.

However there might be a new way of complimenting the efforts of chemotherapy and radiation, thereby reducing the amount of exposure to these methods. Want to know about it? Join me next time and you would know because I am not letting the cat out of the bag.

Hope you are truly informed. Like I always say, let all your family and friends know about what you learn here, it is your duty to them.

Till I come your way next time, it’s your girl, Bim nubi saying ‘Remain beautifully blessed’. Ciao.
